Significance of keeping the vehicle clean in fall and winter

People often ask me, is it important to wash my vehicle? The answer is yes and even more so as we get into fall and winter months, and here’s why...

The dirt and grime on roads can be extremely wet and muddy during the fall and winter months, with water and dirt being splashed up on your paint, lights and windows on almost every journey. When the outside temperatures drop below freezing, this dirty moisture freezes, increasing the time the contaminants stay on your vehicles paint. As tempetures get colder, wet snow or ice that accumulates on your vehicle, melts and tends to slide off the vehicle, moving all the accumulated dirt over your vehicle body/paint while sliding. This can also increase the chances of marring or scratching your vehicle paint and causing rust. Regular car washes are a big part of helping to maintain your vehicle, as they can help prevent rust, scratches, dull paint, and other issues that take away from the look of your vehicle.

Car washes also improve driver/road safety as, the key to safe driving is to see and be seen by other road users. Dirty lights or windows can impede you visibility and keep you from communicating with other road users. Muddy smears on the glass can also create blind spots that prevent you from seeing other vehicles. Keeping your vehicle’s windows and lights clean not only impacts your safety but also the safety of other drivers.
