Get a Class 7 Learner's Licence in Alberta

First thing is to prepare for the knowledge test (Class 7 Learners).

Stage 1: Learner (Class 7) 
To obtain a class 7 learner’s driver’s licence you must be;

  1. 14 years of age or older


  2. pass a vision screening 
-pass a knowledge test on the rules of the road 


  3. have parental consent if you are under 18 years of age

  4. have valid photo identification and proof of address. 


 

LEARNER’S CONDITIONS: 


  • You must hold a learner’s driver’s licence (class 7) for at least one year.

  • You must be accompanied by a fully licensed (non-GDL probationary) driver who is 18 years of age or older and is seated next to you.

  • You are not permitted to drive without a fully licensed accompanying driver.
  • You are not permitted to have more passengers than seat belts.

  • Your licence will be suspended if you accumulate eight or more demerit points.

  • You must have no alcohol and drugs in your system when driving (or riding a motorcycle).

You can also Google other Alberta Class 7 practice tests to make sure you are well prepared, as some of the questions are asked in different phrasing choices.

Once you have passed the knowledge test, you will be issued the Class 7 Driver's licence. This is the stage when you will be able to learn and practice on-road, book in-vehicle lessons with us to learn from the  professionals  and also practice at home with your parents or significant other, who is fully licensed driver. 40 - 50 hours of home practice is recommended to be competent and comfortable behind the wheel. Once you are confident and feel ready to challenge the road test, you can book your road test to get your Class 5 GDL. This is a big milestone in ones life and we feel fortunate to be able to help.
